Lamb #2 - Ella

Technically, next on the lambie list should be Maggie's twin sister. Unfortunately, however, we lost her at birth. Therefore, Kellane Farm's #2 lamb status goes to little miss Ella....my second favorite of the lambs. It is quite interesting to me that my preference for the lambs pretty much goes in the order of their birth. That is totally coincidental. My preference for one over the other strictly goes by their personality - not their birth order. Actually, at first I wasn't all that fond of Ella because she was so flighty and ran from me whenever I tried to touch her. I don't know what changed her mind - witnessing that her sister (Nera) didn't run from me, that I occasionally give out animal cookies, or that she decided she loves to have her chin and chest scratched - but now she follows me around the pen with Maggie, begging for scratchies. Whereas Maggie will look up at me and wag her tail when I scratch her, Ella will close her eyes and get the most serene look on her little face. It totally melts my heart!

Ella is a beautiful little lamb with such a sweet face. It is her face that graces the header of this blog. Here are photos of her progress thus far:
Ella (right) at birth...she's a wee bit gross, but very cute!

Chicken update: Even though the coop is built, the run is still under construction. Until Kirk finishes the run, I won't be getting the chickens. I do plan on letting the chickens roam the yard when I'm outside, but when I'm not they will need to have an enclosed run for them to stretch their legs in (and it needs to be predator proof, so that is what is taking so long)!
UPDATE FOR THIS POST: As I started doing the entry for Nera, I realized that I'd made a mistake in Ella's original post. The photo that I'd inserted for the April 30th caption was actually Nera...not Ella! I have deleted that photo and inserted a photo of the correct lamb. :)
